Arkansans Warned to Expect Higher Winter Heating Bills

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas Public Service Commission is warning consumers that the cost of natural gas is going up and that heating bills this winter will be significantly higher than last winter.

The panel said Friday that customers of CenterPoint Energy will see an increase of about 24 percent over last winter and that Arkansas Western Gas Company customers will pay an estimated 31 percent more.  Bills are expected to rise by 48 percent for customers of Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Corp.

The commission developed its estimates based on information from gas companies and on anticipated natural gas prices.
