Huckabee to Speak at Emerson Picnic in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KAIT) - Former GOP presidential contender and Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee will be the keynote speaker at southeast Missouri Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson's 13th Annual Old-Fashioned Family Picnic in Cape Girardeau on August 9.

Other speakers for the event include Emerson, Missouri State Senators Michael Gibbons and Brad Lager, and Secretary of State candidate Mitchell Haubbard.  The winner of Missouri's August 5 Republican Gubernatorial Primary is also expected to attend the event.

Huckabee is an ordained Baptist minister and regular contributor for Fox News.  He was elected Lt. Governor of Arkansas in a 1993 special election, and became governor of the Natural State in 1996.  Since ending his unsuccessful bid for the Presidence earlier this year, Huckabee has worked actively for the John McCain campaign.

Emerson's picnic will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the A.C. Brase Arena at 410 Kiwanis Drive in Cape Girardeau.  Tickets are $15 for adults, and may be ordered on the Web at www.joannemerson.com, or by calling 573-335-0033.
