JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The workforce continues to be reduced at a Jonesboro manufacturing plant.
Great Dane Trailers today laid off 69 employees at its facility on East Highland Drive in the Jonesboro Industrial Park. A company spokesperson described the cutbacks as "a reaction to the current business climate," explaining that the company has experienced a significant "loss of orders" in recent months.
Today's move follows another round of lay-offs which happened in January 2007, when Great Dane laid off approximately 140 employees. Today's cutbacks will leave the facility with 70 employees.
In March, the company closed its plant in Greenville, Mississippi. The Georgia-based company builds trailers for companies that use both dry and refrigerated space.
