Annual Box Fan Giveaway Kicks Off

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -  "The Bible said it's more blessed to give, than to receive."

So, for that reason Pastor Rick Ethridge and his church, Greater Vision Ministries in Paragould, are gearing up for their third year of delivering box fans to those in need.

"The room in here is just really hot during the day, and the back room is really hot. The fans help out a lot," said Easley.

Joann Easley is among those on Friday's delivery route as Pastor Ethridge makes his rounds through Paragould.

In the last two years greater vision has given away nearly 200 fans each year at a cost of more than $1,000 a year.

But Ethridge says there's no price tag on the joy he feels from giving them away.

"It's just a warm, wonderful feeling to be able to give back and be helpful in a way like this," said Ethridge.

Also on Friday's route was Syblene McMillin, who also was in need of a breeze.

"That's sweat. I'm just sweating. When I don't get air, I just sweat," said McMillin as she wiped her face.

She too is thankful for her fan, and says it really does make a world of a difference.

"If I'm sitting in here, it brings cool air. It makes a lot of difference," said McMillin.

"When that fan was turned on, it just brought a difference, and even a glow on her face. To me that's everything," said Ethridge.

And as the church starts its third year of their fan giveaway, they hope to serve all of those in need.

"I know we prioritize in giving to the elderly and handicapped first, but everyone who needs a fan, I wish we could put a fan in their home this year," said Ethridge.

IF YOU LIVE IN THE PARAGOULD AREA, AND ARE IN NEED OF A FAN FOR YOUR HOME DUE TO HARDSHIPS..

You can contact Greater Vision Ministries at 870-239-4005 or Pastor Ethridge at 870-236-9555.   He says to leave a message and you will be contacted about receiving a fan.
