870 Event Center Loses License From City

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- The 870 Event Center located at 100 Johnson Avenue will be shutting its doors after the city of Jonesboro's zoning committe voted to revoke the business' license granted in April of this year.

This comes after Jonesboro Police obtained a search warrant in July to search the establishment and found 20 grams of marijuana, alcohol, a gun, and knives.  The club was also said to be staying open past its 2:30 a.m. closing time set forth by the city.

Owner Charles Mabry says he feels like the city of Jonesboro has been picking on him, and never gave him a fair chance to get the business on its feet.

However, Police Chief Mike Yates says Mabry had plenty of time to get the 870 in compliance with what the city asked of him, and says they would do the same to any other organization.
