Jonesboro Alderman Candidate Arrested Following Domestic Dispute

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A candidate for Jonesboro City Council was arrested on 'drunk, insane and disorderly' charges last night after an incident at a local car dealership where he is employed.

Police say 41-year-old Mikel Fears was arrested at Williamson Auto Sales on East Nettleton Avenue after JPD officers were called to the business by a co-worker.  There, police found Fears and a woman identified as Ginger Fears involved in what appeared to be a domestic dispute inside the building.  Police say Ginger Fears told police that Mikel Fears was armed and "threatening to use the firearm the first time he saw a cop."  According to the police report, Mikel Fears eventually exited the building and began talking with the responding officers.  He was soon arrested without further incident.  Police also recovered a loaded shotgun at the scene.

Mikel Fears is an unopposed candidate for the Ward 6, Position 2 position on the Jonesboro City Council.
