Criminal(s) Steal from Jonesboro Police Chief's Vehicle

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - JPD is looking for the suspect or suspects who broke into two vehicles Tuesday, one of which belonged to Jonesboro Police Chief Mike Yates.

Police responded to the 600 block of Candis Drive in reference to the break-ins Tuesday morning. According to reports, responding officer Cpl. Gary Wayne McClard says Chief Yates noticed his driver's side door open with the dome light on in the vehicle.

What he didn't notice was his Garmin Rhino 530 GPS Unit owned by the city; it was missing.

The item, valued at $600, was apparently stolen along with about $220 dollars from a second victim. Reports suggest the second person is a woman who lives in the neighborhood.

Anyone with information on this is urged to call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP (7867).
