Happening Now: Gas up overnight, some stations flooded with customers

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Many Region 8 motorists hit the road this morning to discover more bad news at the pump.  Fuel prices at most gas stations in the Jonesboro and Paragould area have taken significant jumps in the past 12 hours, and the Region 8 News newsroom has been flooded with calls from angry motorists, with many alleging price gouging by local suppliers.

The price for a gallon of regular gasoline is reported to currently be at $4.29 per gallon at the Kum & Go station at Hilltop in Jonesboro.  Similar prices, as well as long lines at the pumps, are reported at many other local stations.  So far, the cheapest price we've found this morning is at the Valero station on Johnson Avenue, at $3.59...apparently one of the few stations in town that had not yet hiked prices overnight.

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel plans to hold a news conference on the spike in gas prices today.  We will pass along the details as soon as it happens.
