Greene County Residents Cleaning Up After Rocky Night

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -- You couldn't drive too far into Paragould Sunday morning without seeing someone cleaning up.  Virginia Hatman and her husband Wayman got a rude awakening Sunday morning. When they looked outside, they knew it was going to be a long day.

"Oh my, lots of limbs, lots of clean up to do," said Wayman Hatman.

Wayman says it was the wind that got his attention in the early morning hours. He anxiously awaited daylight, to see just how much damage was done.

"I looked around and did't see any shingles, so it looks like we were lucky," said Hatman.

While the Hatmans and their home remained virtually unscathed.....

"I had no idea this would happen," said Karolyn Gregory.

Just down the road in Paragould, Karolyn Gregory wasn't so lucky.

"I thought something had happened in the house, and I looked around didn't see anything. I opened up my front bedroom window.  I saw this tree and all these limbs and I couldn't imagine what was going on," said Gregory.

When Karolyn walked outside, and saw a massive tree limb resting on her roof, she says it was the shock of a lifetime. She says she was expecting some storms, but she never expected this.

"I'm just praising God, I'm just thankful to God that he kept me safe and that it didn't go all the way through the house and get me in my sleep," said Gregory.
