JFD Is Recruiting

JONESBORO (KAIT) Over the past couple of years the Jonesboro Fire Department has hired quite a few people but if this years budget allows they would like to hire several more.

The first step is to go by city hall and get an application, once that's turned in you will be sent a study guide for the written test.

Division Chief Kevin Miller, "Anybody that passes the written exam is then qualified to come back the following week for a physical skills test. If they pass that then they are on a list, positioned by how well they scored on the written test."

At some point the candidates will be called in for a personal interview, a polygraph and a complete medical evaluation.

Once hired they are sent to Camden to the fire academy then they return home for more training. It takes about a year and a half to 2 years to become fully qualified.

It is a long slow process but well worth it. If you think you have what it takes the written test will be given on November 1st with the agility test on the following weekend.
