MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A convicted felon has been charged with aggravated statutory rape after allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old Arkansas girl. Dewayne Collier, 42, is being held in the Shelby County Jail on $100,000 bond.
He made an initial court appearance Friday morning. Police say Collier drove to Jeanette, Ark., to pick up the girl on Sept. 5, then brought her back to his house to have sex. When Collier brought the girl home the next day, detectives say her mother demanded to know where she'd been.
An FBI spokesman says Collier could face federal charges for crossing state lines to have sex with a minor. Court records show Collier pleaded guilty to especially aggravated kidnapping and was sentenced to five years' probation in 2004 for a violent incident involving his estranged wife in 2003. --- Information from: The Commercial Appeal, http://www.commercialappeal.com
