Kids Count Coalition to Bring Statewide Tour to Region 8

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Arkansas Kids Count Coalition will convene in Jonesboro on Monday for the final stop on a "statewide summer tour to explore what needs to be accomplished" during the 2009 Legislative Assembly "to keep families moving forward."

The coalition of child advocates, community activists, elected officials and community leaders has previously met in conferences in Helena-West Helena, Texarkana, Springdale and Harrison.

According to the coalition, one in five Craighead County children lives in poverty, and all local residents who want their voice heard in budget and policy decisions are encouraged to attend the conference, which is set for 10 a.m. to noon at the Mid-South Health Center at 2707 Browns Lane.
