Sharp County To Stay Dry

SHARP COUNTY (KAIT) Sharp county will not get to vote this year on the Wet/Dry Issue. Circuit Judge Phil Smith handed down his no-vote decision late Thursday afternoon.

His decision was based on problem affidavit signatures and invalid signatures on the petitions themselves. After all the petitions were examined and all the ineligible signatures were removed, the count was 4,159, 210 short of the legal requirement.

Ruth Reynolds one of the prime movers behind the petitions told me that.

"I haven't had an opportunity to discuss it with my associates. We'll get together and make a decision."

It would have been interesting to see how the voters would have decided. Reynolds said her group was not going to give up.

Reynolds, "We're definitely gonna try again. We have another general election two years from now and two years is a good head start to get signatures."
