Stepping Up In Time Of Crisis

BATESVILLE (KAIT) In a time of crisis there are those that step out ahead of others to take action. In Batesville a car filled with gasoline fumes explodes in a Pizza Hut Parking Lot. First Responder Ben Kelley from Floral and his shift manager Maddie Rohrer took action.

The two were conversing in the kitchen when they heard the sound of the explosion. Ben immediately told Maddie to call 911.

Kelley raced outside to change into his firefighting turnouts, Maddie brought water to the burned driver so that he could drench his smoldering clothing.

A passing motorist gave Kelley a fire extinguisher and he was able to contain the flames till emergency personnel arrived.

The drivers condition is not known at this time.
