MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The weekend just ended was a deadly one in Memphis, where six people died in traffic crashes and two others were shot to death.
The Commercial Appeal quoted city police Lt. Ira Miller saying the traffic death toll beats any weekend in his memory.
A two-car crash on Germantown Parkway killed three people early Sunday.
Police said witnesses told officers a Porshe was speeding before plowing into a Lincoln sedan that was pulling onto the street from a parking lot. Both men in the sports car died after it flipped and landed on its top. The driver of the sedan was also killed.
Three other crashes claimed the lives of 1 man each.
Two homicide victims were shot hours apart early Saturday.
