Forgotten Purse Gets Picked Up and Returned Minus The Cash Says Victim

JONESBORO, AR  (KAIT) -- Katie Spain and her husband had lunch the McDonald's on Highland in Jonesboro on Tuesday. After a quick bite--they left the restaurant.

A few minutes later, Katie realized she left her purse behind.

"So we went ahead and drove back as quick as we could.  By the time we got there, it was gone," said Katie Spain.

Police do have a person of interest, but the story doesn't end here.

"About an hour and a half later, my mother-in-law calls me and tells me that my purse is sitting on the hood of the car in the garage," said Spain.

The purse and most of the contents wertr returned to Katie's home.

"We have no idea how it got here," said Spain.

She says the only thing missing from inside was $225.00 in cash.

Gas and food money, Katie says, was supposed to last through the end of this week.

Spain says she asked around the neighborhood, but says no one heard or saw anyone drop off the purse.
