Jonesboro Jogger Dies from Injuries

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A tragic ending to a story that KAIT News has been tracking this week.

Region 8 News learned this morning that 44-year-old Dee Shoemaker of Jonesboro has died from the injuries that she sustained while jogging last weekend on East Highland Drive.  The victim was struck by a vehicle while jogging with a friend on Sunday morning.  Police say the accident happened when glare from the sun hampered the vision of the vehicle's driver.

Ms. Shoemaker had been hospitalized since the accident at St. Bernard's Medical Center.  Dee Shoemaker was a fitness trainer at the NEA Clinic Wellness Center and a physical fitness instructor in the Trumann School system.

    According to the Arkansas State Police, the 16-year-old injured in a shooting outside the Emergency Juvenile Shelter in Marion was shot by police.
