Haworth Building May Have a Future Tenant

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - There may finally be a new future for a modern Jonesboro manufacturing facility that has been vacant for the past three years.

City Hall officials say that ownership of the Haworth building on U.S. 63 in southeast Jonesboro has been transferred.  However, the identity of the new owner remains a mystery, at least for now.

The Jonesboro Unlimited wing of the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce has planned a "major industrial announcement" for October 13 at the ASU Convocation Center.  Yesterday, the chamber e-mailed a "pre-invitation" notice to members, "to provide you with an early opportunity to make reservations" for the event, for which Jonesboro Unlimited is selling tickets for $15 per person.  It is not known if this announcement is related to the Haworth building.

The Haworth company built the facility in 1998, but closed it in 2004 "due to a downturn in the office furniture business."  The 285,000-square-foot facility sits on 103 acres.
