ST. LOUIS (AP) - An insurance salesman from rural Missouri who claimed top honors on the NBC show "America's Got Talent" is trying to comprehend the ways his life changed in an instant.
Neal E. Boyd won over audiences and a $1 million prize with his heartfelt opera singing. The 32-year-old grew up in Sikeston, and more recently has lived in suburban St. Louis selling insurance for AFLAC.
He says today he'll be in an Oct. 17 Las Vegas show and may record a Christmas album.
His powerful voice propelled him to the top of a pool of about 200,000 talent show acts vying to be on the show. On Wednesday night he beat out four other finalists, clinching the competition by one half of 1 percent over performer Eli Mattson.
