Arkansas AG, Humane Society Working on Animal Cruelty Bill

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has been working with groups that previously opposed making animal cruelty a felony. McDaniel says they are developing legislation that could pass in the legislative session that begins in January.

The bill would include clear exemptions so the state's poultry industry and other agricultural enterprises would not be exposed to charges for ordinary practices. McDaniel discussed the bill after a news conference announcing that the Humane Society is offering $5,000 rewards for people reporting dogfighting and cockfighting.
