Arrest Made in Riverside Threat

LAKE CITY, AR (KAIT) - A Lake City teenager has been arrested in connection with the "threat" which resulted in the temporary lockdown of the Riverside High School campus Monday morning.

Craighead County Sheriff Jack McCann said a 16-year-old female student at the school was responsible for the text message threat that three students at the school were going to be shot.  "She has some family issues...and apparently texted the message to some kind of hoax," said McCann.

The incident resulted in a two-and-a-half hour lockdown of the school's campus, as Lake City police and school officials conducted a search of lockers.

A subsequent police investigation led to the arrest of the student at about 9 p.m. last night, according to McCann, who said the suspect will be charged with terroristic threatening, filing a false police report and communicating a false alarm.

Because the suspect is a juvenile, her identity cannot be released.
