Nettleton Students React to Unidentified Drug

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Approximately five students at Nettleton Junior High School were taken to St. Bernard's Medical Center late this morning after apparently taking what was described as an "unidentified prescription drug."

The reaction to the drug was not described as an overdose, but rather "odd behaviour" that was reported by some teachers at the school.  Paramedics and emergency responders were called to the campus in east Jonesboro, and the students were taken to St. Bernard's for observation.  A KAIT reporter at the scene said the students were able to walk to the ambulances under their own power.

According to the school district's official Website, one student "was taken into custody at the school for providing a prescription medication to other students.  Parents of all students involved have been notified of the events and investigation is on-going."

The incident occured between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
