Young Eagles Soar in Batesville

BATESVILLE (KAIT) Following in the spirit of Charles Lindbergh. Young Eagles took to the skies over Batesville.

Over 40 students from Cedar Ridge Elem. School took flight with pilots from the EAA chapter in Batesville.

The flights were a culmination of a unit on flight.

Their teacher Ken McSpadden says aviation taps into all areas of education. "Looking at the science, the math, some history of flying. We learned a lot about different aviators. We did a lot of experiments with balloons, straws and paper planes."

Since the program began in 1992 over a million kids have had their first taste of flying through the EAA Young Eagles Program.
