Interest for Toyota Plant Under Wraps September 17, 2002 at 10:31 PM CDT - Updated July 1 at 8:11 AM September 17, 2002Posted at: 6:20 p.m. CDT ASSOCIATED PRESS WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. -- The head of Arkansas' economic development department said little Tuesday about the prospects of the state landing a Toyota auto plant. Two Alabama newspapers are reporting that a site near West Memphis is one four locations in the South being considered by Japan's largest automaker. Director Jim Pickens would say the state can compete for the plant. West Memphis officials were no more forthcoming with West Memphis Chamber of Commerce director Holmes Hammett saying if there's something that's in the works it will remain under wraps.
