Arnold's 2 TDs Leads Arkansas St. Past North Texas

DENTON, Texas (AP) - Reggie Arnold ran for two touchdowns and Arkansas State became bowl eligible with a 33-28 win over North Texas Saturday. Arnold had 101 yards rushing for the Red Wolves (6-5, 4-2), who remain in contention for the Sun Belt title along with Troy and Louisiana-Lafayette.

Arkansas State plays Troy next weekend. North Texas (1-11, 0-7) lost despite its best defensive outing this season. The Mean Green gave up nearly 48 points a game this year, last in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

Arkansas State's Corey Leonard threw for 205 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown pass to Jahbari McLennan. Leonard also ran for another score. Cam Montgomery second touchdown run gave UNT a 28-24 lead in the third quarter. But Arnold scored his second TD less than two minutes later to put ASU back ahead.

Montgomery finished with 121 yards on 20 carries. North Texas blocked an extra point attempt by Josh Arauco, snapping his streak of 73 successful attempts.
