New Superintendent Named for Lake Poinsett State Park

HARRISBURG, AR (KAIT) - Josh Epperson has been named the park superintendent for Lake Poinsett State Park according to State Parks Director Greg Butts.

Epperson has served as the assistant park superintendent for Lake Poinsett State Park since 2007. He will now overseeall operations for the Harrisburg park.

"Josh Epperson is the right choice to take over management at Lake Poinsett State Park," said Arkansas State Parks Director Greg Butts.  "Josh is a knowledgeable park professional with 6 years experience in the Arkansas State Park system."

Epperson says, "My family and I have visited Arkansas State Parks for as long as I can remember and many of my fondest memories occurred in an Arkansas State Park. My family and I would often camp at Village Creek and it was there that I attended every interpretive program offered, went on every hike, and ultimately decided what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to work for the Arkansas State Parks system. I had a goal and I worked very hard to achieve it. ."

Superintendent Epperson is a native of Newport and completed his B.S. in wildlife ecology and management from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro in 2006.

Lake Poinsett State Park, which is one of the 52 state parks managed by the State Parks Division of the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.
