Arkansas Low-Income Insurance Program May be Expanding

LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) - A program to provide health insurance to low-income workers may be expanding.

AR Health networks has about 5,000 workers enrolled but the program can go up to 50,000 workers.

The Arkansas Human Services Department is studying whether to expand the program to allow people who are self-employed.

This comes one year, after Arkansas scrapped a drug discount program because of lack of participation.

The program, called Arkansas RX, was designed for working-age uninsured people.
