JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -- Bystanders looked on Tuesday afternoon as the Jonesboro SWAT team and members of the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a home on Hope street.
This was not the first time they've seen police in their neighborhood.
"Whether it's bootlegging, alcohol or drugs, or violence....we get numerous calls to the area. It's all the time," said an agent with the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force.
This time, officers came out with guns and drugs, in addition to making an arrest.
Police say this is an area they are very familiar with, and not for good reasons.
"We've got a total of about 8 or 9 people that were selling crack over the last few months on cases we've been working from that particular area on Hope street," said the agent.
Police say residents living up and down these streets are acutely aware that police are aware of the drug problems in the area.
"As far as controlled substances...it's everyday. I mean we deal with it in that area of town everyday. It's very concentrated in that area," said the agent.
While Tuesday's arrest will not end the problem, police say it sends a strong message to those who buy and sell drugs in that area and across the city.
