Clinton Announces Energy Efficiency Partnership with Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Former President Bill Clinton announced a partnership between his foundation and the state of Arkansas to retrofit buildings in the state to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Clinton joined Governor Beebe and state legislator Kathy Webb of the Governor's Global Warming Commission today in asking state and business leaders to support the effort.

Clinton said that new technology and enterprise aimed at energy independence and a clean environment is the country's best chance for coming out of economic crisis and making the world safer and cleaner for the next generation.

He stressed that making the change is affordable, adding that that's where his foundation will help the state. The Clinton Foundation will provide the technical expertise to Arkansas as well as materials at discounted costs to maximize the energy efficiency of buildings in Arkansas.
