LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - New Census estimates show that Arkansas' population increased by 0.9 percent from July 2007 to July 2008, making it the No. 22 state in terms of population growth.
The population estimates, released Monday, show that Utah is the fastest growing state, increasing by 2.5 percent over a year. Utah knocked Nevada from the top spot.
Arkansas' population increased from 2.83 million in July 2007 to 2.85 million in July 2008 - a jump of more than 24,000 people.
Michigan and Rhode Island were the only states that lost population. California remained the most populous state, followed by Texas, New York, Florida and Illinois.
