Pemiscot County Sheriff Warns of Scam

STEELE, MO (KAIT) - Pemiscot County residents are being targeted by a scam relating to pre-paid gifts, according to Sheriff Tommy Greenwell.

Greenwell says deputies have been gathering information on a possible scam going on within the county and the area.

According to the Daily Dunklin Democrat, residents at Steele and Holland, Missouri have been finding notices that say they are entitled to a pre-paid gift and that they have 48 hours to redeem the gift.

Deputies say the notices appear to be printed on low-quality paper and appear suspicious by looks. They also add that the notices may be marked "Second Notice."

Pemiscot County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the possible scam and ask residents to contact them if they receive one of the notices or if they feel they have more information.
