Jonesboro Fire Officials Continue To Investigate Suspicious Fires

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -- Three fires in two days and investigators now say they're the work of arsonist.   The first fire was set early Monday morning on Fisher street in North Jonesboro. By Tuesday, two more houses had gone up in flames, including a home on Fourth street belonging to a single mom and her four children.  Investigators are searching for the person who purposely set these fires.

"I just want to know why, why would a person do this especially to a single mother with four kids that's trying to have something? I don't understand," said Chrystal Neal.  Chrystal Neal lost everything Monday morning after a fire swept through her North Jonesboro home. It's the work Jonesboro Fire Officials say, of an arsonist.  Neal says explaining what happened to her young children was heartbreaking.

"I told them that I was going to do the best that I could and that people were helping us," said Neal.

Just hours before Chrystal's house went up in flames on 4th street, another house burned just a few blocks away on Fisher Street.

Brittany Mitchell lives across the street from that burned house.  She says she thought it was her house. She got up and got everyone out. It was then she realized it was across the street,  and called 9-1-1.  Fortunately no one was living in this house.  On Tuesday, another fire and, officials say, another arson.  The house that burned on Drake was vacant as well.

On Thursday, fire marshals spent another day investigating these three fires, all in an effort to keep another house from going up in flames.   Meanwhile, Chrystal Neal drives by her burned home on 4th street nearly everyday, but she has yet to walk back in.
