CAPE GIRARDEAU (Red Cross) - The Southeast Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross in collaboration with Emergency Management Directors, local churches, the Salvation Army and other community partners have opened eleven shelters in Southeast Missouri. Shelters are open to provide local residents who have lost power due to the ice storm a warm place to go to escape the wintery cold. These facilities include cots and blankets, however anyone going to a Red Cross shelter is asked to bring with them any personal items they need, including snacks, medications, flashlights, blankets, and activities for children. The Red Cross and Salvation Army are working in collaboration to provide feeding for the people staying in the shelters.
