Accused Jonesboro Killer Arrested by U.S. Marshals

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Nearly 2 months after police began searching for him, Marcus Antonio Smith is finally under arrest.

According to U.S. Marshalls, the search concluded in Memphis as four Little Rock and five Memphis agents along with Memphis police and Shelby County Sheriff's Department found Smith in an apartment complex off Elvis Presley Boulevard.

Smith was arrested at the complex, along with two other unnamed individuals, facing pending charges of hindering apprehension.

The 20-year-old, formerly of Blytheville, was wanted in the December 10th murder of 19-year-old Charles Anthony Whitney of Jonesboro. Whitney was killed in what Jonesboro Police officers say was a drive-by shooting at 211 North Drake St. in Jonesboro, on the evening of December 10th.
