Memphis, Tennessee, (KAIT) -- 8 separate cases, 8 indictments--all charged with various offenses of child exploitation, that's according to U.S. Attorney in the Western District of Tennessee, Larry Laurenzi.
"They have come from various regions and various backgrounds," said Laurenzi.
Among those arrested, 44-year-old Robert Joseph Tower of Paragould. Several others live in west and middle Tennessee. Laurenzi says they consider these cases to be a priority because of their content.
"Not only are we seeing an increase in the number of cases, but we are also seeing that the pictures we're dealing with now are more graphic and violent," said Laurenzi.
Laurenzi goes on to say, these days the ages of the children in the pictures are getting younger, some as young as 6 months old.
"The simple possession of child pornography just like the simple possession of crack cocaine is a crime," said Laurenzi.
