Memphis Tigers dominate Conference USA awards

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The Memphis Tigers' dominance of Conference USA extended to the postseason awards Tuesday, with several players receiving specialty awards.

The No. 4 Tigers, who went undefeated in conference play for the third straight year and enter this week's C-USA tournament as the top seed, received all but 1 of the awards presented Tuesday.

Guard Tyreke Evans was selected Freshman of the Year, senior guard Antonio Anderson was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year, while freshman swingman Wesley Witherspoon was voted the league's top sixth man.

Anderson and senior forward Robert Dozier were part of the six-member defensive team of the year in the conference. It was the third consecutive year Anderson has been named to the team in voting by the league's coaches and selected media members.

Joining Anderson and Dozier on the team were Tulsa's Jerome Jordan, Bamba Fall of SMU, Kelvin Lewis of Houston and Paul Delaney III of UAB.
