JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Travel this year is in full swing as more Americans gear up for the holiday season.
More than 54 million Americans are expected to travel this Thanksgiving week.
That’s the most seen since 2005 which means airports and highways will be packed in the coming days.
A tip everyone should be aware of is to simply avoid rush hour in metropolitan areas between 3 and 5 P.M.
A record 30.6 million people will travel by air between Friday, Nov. 15, until the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
Staff and canine units are being added to airports nationwide by the Transportation Security Administration and there’s new X-ray and conveyor belt technology to help move lines more quickly.
The biggest hold up in security lines are prohibited items like a forgotten water bottle.
Even with the smallest amount of liquid can cost you and those behind you missed minutes. So be sure you’re checking the bottom of your bags, suitcases, and purses for a less stressful flight delay.
