JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Several new businesses are helping to create a boom in Downtown Jonesboro.

It's part of a push to get and keep people downtown.

While there are new restaurants coming in too, the big push is for unique businesses that give people something to do before and after their meal.

New places like Board & Brush, Buff City Soap, The Glass Factory, and The Fainting Goat aim to keep people downtown for longer periods of time.

The Downtown Jonesboro Association is striving for the convenience of a meal and an activity all in the same place.

And it's something they're focusing on as they push for more growth.

"We have fabulous restaurants downtown and everyone knows that," Director Lindsey Wingo said. "But it's very exciting that some of the new businesses coming in are offering something for people to do before and/or after they eat a meal."

Wingo hopes the new micro-lofts will contribute to that as well, promising an affordable living space right in the middle of the downtown lifestyle.

And she expects the growth will only continue as businesses see the draw of more and more people to downtown.
