HARRISBURG, AR (KAIT) - Gavin Grubbs has changed a lot since the first time he appeared before television cameras.
“Almost ten years ago, I had the opportunity to meet Joey Logano through the Make-A-Wish Foundation,” Grubbs said on NBC, as he introduced the 2018 NASCAR Driver of the Year. “After that I would be a groomsman in his wedding and about five years after that, I would be introducing him as the champion. He has made a major impact on my life—as well as many others. Please welcome my friend and your 2018 Monster Energy Cup Series Champion, Joey Logano!”
Grubbs was but a child when he first laid eyes on the rising racing star when Gavin’s wish was granted in 2010.
Grubbs, now a young man, appeared on stage wearing a tux for the formal evening recognizing the race car driver that is now like family to the Harrisburg native.
Logano was surprised to see Grubbs make his entrance at the Cup Series Banquet in Las Vegas. His appearance was kept top secret right until Grubbs took to the stage.
