PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -The potential for winter weather this weekend has the Arkansas Department of Transportation preparing for the weather in spite of the poor conditions in the forecast.
They’ve got an extra few trucks heading into Region 8 from their maintenance division in Little Rock to help out the fleet here.
ARDOT District 10 Engineer Brad Smithee said that the rain and slick roadways are making it hard to prep the roads, and the current weather forecast is making it difficult to move forward.
“We don’t want to go waste a lot of money," Smithee said. "We don’t want to do something that’s a waste of time and effort. But, we don’t want to do nothing. So, we’re just very closely watching these things.”
Smithee says that one of the ways they’re preparing roads for the weather this weekend is putting brine out on several roads around Greene County that see a little less traffic, in order to find out how well the substance reacts to the moisture already on the road.
