BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Just hours after he was released from jail, an Arkansas man found himself back behind bars.

Robert Raymond Lambert, 44, is being held on $50,000 bond after investigators say he broke into an impound lot to steal his SUV.

Mountain Home police arrested Lambert on Sunday, Dec. 16, on various charges and took him to the Baxter County Detention Center. Officers took his car to a local impound lot and left it there.

After Lambert was released from jail at 9:15 that morning, according to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, he went to the impound lot to get his vehicle, but the lot was closed.

Montgomery said that did not stop Lambert.

Surveillance video showed Lambert crawl under the fence and get into a Toyota Infinity. He then used that vehicle to ram open the gate.

“Lambert then went back inside the impound lot and took his own vehicle, a Chevrolet Blazer, and fled from the area,” Montgomery stated in a news release.

On Monday, with the help of Arkansas State Police, deputies located Lambert in Harrison and arrested him.

He’s now being held in the Baxter County Jail on three counts of breaking or entering, two counts of theft of property, felony criminal mischief, and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

He’s scheduled to appear in circuit court on Jan. 10.
