HARRISBURG, AR (KAIT) -A Region 8 police chief has decided to resign.

Chief Cassie Brandon of the Harrisburg Police Department put out a Facebook post on Monday informing the community of her decision.

In it she stated that her decision was not forced or requested, but due to personal reasons.

She further stated she had enjoyed her time with HPD and felt they made a lot of progress in a short amount of time.

Chief Brandon was sworn in as chief of police in July of 2018.

Brandon has been a part of law enforcement for over 13 years.

Her resignation will go into effect Jan. 31.
