BLACK ROCK, AR (KAIT) - One Region 8 town is working to bring some activities closer to home with a new group.
The Black Rock Main Street Association had their first meeting on Jan. 6, and already have several events in the works for the coming year.
Secretary for the association Trisha Meeks said people in town have been wanting to do something in the area for a while to get the community involved.
They just didn’t know where to start to get the ball rolling.
They recently started the Main Street Association hoping to make downtown Black Rock a family friendly place to go.
“We want something to do with our children here locally," Meeks said. "There’s a bunch of families around here that have younger children and we want to try and keep them involved in Black Rock.”
Events the group already has planned include a meet and greet for the local businesses and churches, a touch a truck event, and a farmer’s market for the spring.
