INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A section of Highway 69 in Independence County will close temporarily as highway crews perform repair work.
According to a news release form the Arkansas Department of Transportation, crews will close Highway 69 between the Independence County Fairgrounds and U.S. Highway 167 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning Jan. 15.
After those hours, ARDOT said only one lane of the highway will be open with temporary signal lights.
Crews will work to repair drainage structures under the highway.
Work is expected to take 4 to 6 weeks.
There are also width restrictions, which means trucks will have to use designated detour routes at all times, according to ARDOT.
ARDOT said traffic on Highway 69B will need to take Highway 69B to U.S. Highway 167 and then to the intersection of U.S. Highway 167 and Highway 69.
