LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) - While it may be a new year, Entergy Arkansas is warning customers of some of the same old scams going around.
The company said in a news release that they are aware scammers are trying to get money from customers over the phone.
They are using threats of a shut-off of services.
While there are variations of the scam, Entergy Arkansas said the premise of it is the same.
The release said customers will get a call from a spoofed number, then tells the customer they have an hour to pay or they will be cut off.
People are then asked to give a credit card number, buy a prepaid gift card, or transfer funds electronically.
Entergy Arkansas said that if a customer’s bill is overdue, they will receive a written notice with a shutoff date.
