JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Craighead County man is set to appear in court Feb. 22 after police say he went to a bank and tried to cash a stolen check.

Timothy Williams of Jonesboro was arrested on suspicion of second-degree forgery and theft by receiving after an investigation by Jonesboro police. According to a probable cause affidavit, Williams went to a local bank Jan. 15 to cash a check.

“Timothy Williams entered a bank in the city limits of Jonesboro in an attempt to cash a check made out to him. The teller noticed the signature did not match and contacted the victim, who advised he did not write the check,” the affidavit said. “The victim advised the bank the checks had been stolen.”

Officers then went to the bank and arrested Williams.

A $1,000 bond was set for Williams by District Judge David Boling Jan. 16.
