CAVE CITY, AR (KAIT) - A pair of Cave City boys were released from the hospital Wednesday afternoon, with only minor injuries after both being shot in the leg.
It happened around 6 p.m. Jan. 15 at a home on Woodland Drive in Cave City.
The three and four-year-old boys were taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock by Survival Flight.
While both boys are home and recovering, Cave City Police Chief Brian Barnett wants to remind parents to always keep your guns unloaded and locked away.
“They sell plenty of toy guns now that look like real guns, so if a toddler or child gets a hold of one that they think is a toy gun and starts playing with it, then incidents like this unfortunately do happen,” said Barnett.
Several law enforcement agencies and first-responders were on the scene, and worked quickly to help the two boys.
The investigation into this case is still ongoing, but police say it does look like an accidental shooting.
