‘Jumping Joe’ gone, but not forgotten

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -A huge Arkansas State supporter is gone, but not forgotten.

92-year-old Joe Melio, Jr. of Little Rock passed away Jan. 23 in Good Shepherd Rehab Center.

After Melio’s football career at A State ended, he became known as the original “Jumping Joe”.

It was rare Melio ever missed a home game and was a loyal supporter for A-State athletics.

In honor of his memory, the Dean B. Ellis clock tower was lit in his memory.

Services took place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Helena, Arkansas, on Jan. 28 at 1:00 p.m.
