The prescribed burns, according to a news release from Park Ranger David Flugrad, will “help reduce the risk of a destructive wildfire affecting the park and nearby property.”

Nearby homeowners are being notified.

Specially-trained crews will conduct the burns with support from local fire departments and Arkansas Forestry Commission.

A total of 45 acres at the park will be burned.

Anyone with questions about the extended burn plan should contact the park at 870-573-6751.
