GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - If you see smoke near Crowley’s Ridge State Park in the coming weeks, don’t worry.
The Arkansas State Parks will conduct controlled burns between now and March 31.
The prescribed burns, according to a news release from Park Ranger David Flugrad, will “help reduce the risk of a destructive wildfire affecting the park and nearby property.”
Nearby homeowners are being notified.
Specially-trained crews will conduct the burns with support from local fire departments and Arkansas Forestry Commission.
A total of 45 acres at the park will be burned.
Anyone with questions about the extended burn plan should contact the park at 870-573-6751.
