New self-defense program teaches more than just striking

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A local business has started a new self-defense program that teaches women how to do more than just throw a punch.

Lee’s Karate in Jonesboro began the Women’s Awareness Survival Program Friday.

The W.A.S.P. program teaches women how to deal with a potentially dangerous situation before, during, and after a conflict might happen.

Logan Lee, the owner of Lee’s Karate, has taught self-defense classes in the past, but said this program will benefit women more than just learning how to strike and physically defend themselves.

“We want to do the entire spectrum of this conflict, and so now, we’re going to be doing a program that talks about non-escalation, de-escalation, we’re going to talk about the physical alternatives and then we’re also going to talk about the aftermath," said Lee.

There are three levels to the W.A.S.P program, and women of all ages are able to participate.

You can learn more about the program or sign up by visiting the Lee’s Karate website.
